Why not take a spiritual trip to Colombia? You definitely should!
Late in 2019, I set off to Costa Rica and made my way down to Colombia which turned into a spiritual. Or better said, a spiritual awakening experience.
It went by so quickly that I didn’t even realize it, and I found myself back at the check-in counter of an airline, checking in my bags, “ready” to fly back home. As soon as I got my seat, I leaned my head against the window and dozed off.
When I woke up, the plane had already touched down in Lisbon, but it was still five hours until my next flight.
I made my way to the gate of the connecting flight and sat down, waiting for boarding to open. I found myself looking out the window of the airport and losing myself for a bit: What now?
And you know one of those moments where tears slip out of your eyes without you even realizing it? Well, that was one of them.
Still with a happy face and lovely smile, after visiting four countries within three months, almost ending up with a broken leg and ankle, an additional language in my pocket, five flights, numerous bus rides and as many by boats, meeting people from all over the world… It was time for me to go home.
I was lucky enough to meet wonderful people from all over the world with completely different customs, cultures, and lifestyles. I had forgotten for a moment the beauty of the nature that surrounded me.
I saw places that leave you speechless, and still today I wonder how I managed to stand in front of and admire with my own eyes such beauties. The best places, without a doubt, are those where the man has not yet arrived. I always believed that nature was magical, but I never thought it was capable of such masterpieces that they’d take the beat from my heart.
I had been to the city, to the sea, in the forest, in the desert… and every single place gave me unique and authentic emotions that I will never forget!
And there, waiting for the last flight, today, my trip comes to an end, and it’s time to go home.
The most important thing that I understood on this trip is that time flies; it really does. And a few months apart can let you grow up inside pretty quickly depending on the circumstance.
And now that I look back, I realize what a short time away from home did for me.
I’m forever grateful that I had the courage to take the unknown road in order to piece myself back together. It may have put me into a life-long self-love process, a journey, or better said, a rollercoaster, one that knows no end. And it certainly wasn’t an easy journey.
I came back from Colombia sobbing as fuck, not knowing why I was heading back home.
It was a slow and intense process; I didn’t think I truly knew what I was doing or where I was going… but looking back on where I was and where I am right now makes me appreciate life even more, and I’m amazed at where this journey called life is taking me to.
If you are looking for a yoga retreat, Colombia is your destination: coffee region, Caribbean coast with stunning beaches. But it’s not about the places, these retreats are helping you connect with nature, savoring the local organic food, and immersing within yourself.
